  <description-en>Magyar Posta is marking the 50th anniversary of the Budapest Research Reactor going critical by issuing a special stamp block. The Budapest Research Reactor, which as the country&#8217;s major research facility plays an important role in the opinion of the international scientific community about Hungary, has been operated by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences KFKI Atomic Energy Research Institute (AEKI) since 1959.

The research reactor provides a high power source of neutrons for basic and applied research and as such fulfils a real scientific need. The Budapest Research Reactor Instrument Centre was created to organise and continuously improve the use of neutrons generated here. Under its auspices Hungarian and foreign research institutes	and	university	researchers	make measurements at the reactor. The success of its use for scientific purposes is demonstrated by the fact that this is the only reactor in Eastern Europe that belongs to the European Union research infrastructure programme, which makes measurement time on instruments available to European scientists. The reactor is used not only for scientific purposes but also to provide a service for the production of radioactive isotopes for medicine and industry, and for material testing.

The know-how evolved at the AEKI over the years and the security culture makes it possible for the Institute to successfully take part in solving the most varied problems of Hungarian atomic energy both as the scientific base institute of the Paks Nuclear Power Station and as technical experts of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority. The block has been made using special printing technology. Apart from the five-colour offset printing the sixth colour was employed on the block by screen printing with heat-sensitive ink that changes colour. Due to this process the background colour of the area around the stamp changes if exposed to heat. The hexagonal stamp design of the numbered block shows a nuclear heating element. On the left of the frame there is a constructional drawing of a heating element and a picture of a nucleus. The background is decorated by the constructional drawing of a reactor. The first day cover for the block shows a picture of a nucleus and a photo of the experts involved in the first launch. The special postmark features the logo of the Budapest Research Reactor.</description-en>

A kutat&#243;reaktor az alap- &#233;s alkalmazott kutat&#225;sok sz&#225;m&#225;ra nagyteljes&#237;tm&#233;ny&#369; neutronforr&#225;sk&#233;nt szolg&#225;l, s mint ilyen val&#243;s tudom&#225;nyos sz&#252;ks&#233;gletet el&#233;g&#237;t ki. Az itt keletkez&#337; neutronok felhaszn&#225;l&#225;s&#225;nak szervez&#233;s&#233;re &#233;s folyamatos jav&#237;t&#225;s&#225;ra j&#246;tt l&#233;tre a Budapesti Kutat&#243;reaktor M&#369;szerk&#246;zpont. K&#246;zvet&#237;t&#233;s&#233;vel magyar &#233;s k&#252;lf&#246;ldi kutat&#243;int&#233;zetek &#233;s egyetemek kutat&#243;i v&#233;geztek, illetve v&#233;geznek m&#233;r&#233;seket a reaktorn&#225;l. Tudom&#225;nyos c&#233;l&#250; hasznos&#237;t&#225;s&#225;nak sikeress&#233;g&#233;t mutatja, hogy ez az egyetlen kelet-eur&#243;pai berendez&#233;s, amelyet az EU nagyberendez&#233;s programja is mag&#225;&#233;nak tart, &#233;s a berendez&#233;seken bizonyos mennyis&#233;g&#369; m&#233;r&#233;si id&#337;t az EU kutat&#243;i sz&#225;m&#225;ra kib&#233;rel.

A reaktor hasznos&#237;t&#225;s&#225;ra nemcsak tudom&#225;nyos, hanem szolg&#225;ltat&#243;i jelleggel is sor ker&#252;l az eg&#233;szs&#233;g&#252;gyben &#233;s az iparban haszn&#225;lhat&#243; radioakt&#237;v izot&#243;pok el&#337;&#225;ll&#237;t&#225;s&#225;t, szerkezeti anyag besug&#225;rz&#225;sokat illet&#337;en.

Az &#233;vtizedek folyam&#225;n az AEKI-ben l&#233;trej&#246;tt szaktud&#225;s &#233;s biztons&#225;gi kult&#250;ra lehet&#337;v&#233; teszi, hogy az AEKI mind a Paksi Atomer&#337;m&#369; tudom&#225;nyos b&#225;zisint&#233;zm&#233;nyek&#233;nt, mind az Orsz&#225;gos Atomenergia Hivatal m&#369;szaki szak&#233;rt&#337; int&#233;zm&#233;nyek&#233;nt sikeresen vehessen r&#233;szt a hazai atomenergetika legk&#252;l&#246;nb&#246;z&#337;bb probl&#233;m&#225;inak megold&#225;s&#225;ban.
